MRT Corp CEO Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid resigns

300-tonne concrete span at MRT construction site falls, three workers feared dead

PETALING JAYA: Three workers are feared dead after a 300-tonne concrete span collapsed at a MRT construction site in Kota Damansara Monday night.

In a statement, Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) said the incident occurred at the MRT worksite within the former Rubber Research Institute site near Kota Damansara.

"The incident occurred at around 8.30pm while construction of the parapet was being carried out on the MRT elevated guideway.

"A span of the guideway had dislodged from its piers and fallen on the ground below. The span, which was made up of 14 units of segmented box girders, was 38m in length and weighed 300 tonnes.

Initial investigations show contractors at MRT site complied with all requirements, says Fadillah

PETALING JAYA: Initial investigations reveal that the contractors and subcontractors at the MRT construction site in Kota Damansara where a concrete span collapsed on Monday night complied with all requirements set by the Works Ministry, said Datuk Fadillah Yusof.

MRT Corp CEO quits over fatal incident at construction site

PETALING JAYA: MRT Corp CEO Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid has resigned over Monday night's construction site accident in Kota Damansara that claimed three lives.

"As of tomorrow, I am no longer the CEO," he told a press conference at the site here Tuesday.
Azhar said he had always been very strict over safety measures at MRT sites but such incidents had occurred over and over again.

"I have done my best, but I have evidently failed and therefore will be handing over my duties.

"I was told that some security measures were not followed by the sub-contractors and if that really is the case, I will make sure MRT Corp never works with them again," he said.

Contractor in deadly MRT collapse flouted procedures, says safety agency

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 — Initial investigation into the collapse of the concrete span at the MRT worksite found that the contractors did not comply with standard operating procedures (SOP).

Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) deputy director-general Zabidi Md Adib said safety inspectors found that no engineers or supervisors were present to supervise the installation of the parapet wall.

“The installation of the parapet wall should be supervised by qualified engineers to ensure that it is carried out according to procedures,” he said when contacted by Bernama, here today.

Selangor MB Crisis: PAS betrays Khalid

UPDATE: Apparently after his "pleasant surprise", Azmin has graciously declined his nomination in support of Wan Azizah, whom PAS initially rejected. hahahaha. The lengths these people are willing to go just to change the MB!

To summarise the chain of events: first, PKR stabs Khalid in the back. Then Khalid and PAS stabs PKR in the back. Then, PAS stabs Khalid in the back. Then PKR stabs PAS in the back. Amidst all the backstabbing, DAP had better watch theirs! Lol! But eventually, it's the people's back that hurts most! Isn't that hilarious! What a circus!

After this drama, I wonder if these jokers can still talk about transparency, accountability, justice, etc. with a straight face! Clean & fair elections? Just look at the way PKR & DAP conducted their party elections. Seriously!

You know, the sad thing about the people is that they willingly allow themselves to be blackmail by politicians. Why is it that their problem always sounds as if it is the people's problems?

Have the people been made to feel beholden to them? If the people really believe they hold the power, then why are they so afraid of a Pakatan break-up? Are these 3 parties indispensable?

I mean, look at the incessant threats issued by LKS, LGE, et al, of PR breaking up this past week. What break-up? PR isn't even a real coalition but merely a label used by 3 different political parties out of convenience. Which is why, every now and then, they have to make a grand show to convince the people that they are still best buddies.

Anyway, sooooo, PAS has decided to continue to tango with DAP & PKR... well, I suppose principles go out the window when it comes to benefits or rewards.

Selangor MB crisis: PAS no longer supports Khalid, now backs Azmin and Wan Azizah

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS has now retracted its support for Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim as the Selangor Mentri Besar and nominated two candidates to replace the embattled leader to resolve the impasse.

In a packed press conference here, deputy president Mohamad Sabu, also known as Mat Sabu, said that the party has named Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali and Kajang assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as possible replacement.

Khalid could call for an assembly sitting for a confidence vote. Looking at the current situation, I think he will lose the vote.

The other option is for Khalid to advise to dissolve the state assembly, if HRH the Sultan of Selangor agrees. Either way, Khalid's political future and his position as MB does not look too bright.

Well, at least one person received "a pleasant surprise" today... Azmin Ali. Lol. He's been eyeing the position for ages! Furthermore, according to PKR, Selangor "belongs" to them... Seems like the peninsular has been nicely carved out among the 3 parties in PR. How nice.

Selangor MB crisis: Azmin Ali 'pleasantly surprised' at being named as second candidate by PAS

PETALING JAYA: PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali was pleasantly surprised at PAS naming him as the second candidate to replace embattled Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

Azmin, who is Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman, said his nomination, which came as a surprise, would be discussed at the Pakatan Rakyat presidential council later on Sunday.

“To me, what is more important is that PAS has shown that it remains committed towards Pakatan and intends to move forward with our common struggle in the future,” he told
The Star.

Makes you wonder if this was all part of the plan doesn't it? Or if not, and if Azmin did really managed to hijack the Kajang Move... then he is certainly the one to watch!

If we recall back in 2013, Azmin had already reserved the MB post but was forced to grudgingly make way for Khalid.

GE13: Lay off MB issue, Wanita PKR chief Zuraida tells DAP, PAS

In an interview with news portal Antara Pos, Zuraida said: “When I read the newspapers that PAS and DAP wanted the MB to be retained...and Rani (Selangor PAS commissioner Dr Abdul Rani Osman) said he's ready to be the MB.
“I thought, what is wrong with these people? Are they power crazy? Are they crazy for titles?” she added.
Zuraida, re-elected Ampang MP in Sunday's polls, said: “A decision has yet to be made by PKR (on MB's post). The post is for Keadilan (PKR), why are they so eager to offer themselves and to name anyone for the post?”

Between Wan Azizah and Azmin, I think Azmin stands a better chance. But then, the decision rests with HRH the Sultan of Selangor. I wonder what Azmin would do next if he fails again this time... :)

Selangor MB Crisis: The number 30

It's PKR's turn to score today! Earlier, Khalid's team claimed 30. Today, it's PKR turn to claim 30. This will definitely be a blow to Khalid. Two PAS assemblymen has come out in support for Wan Azizah.

If indeed Khalid has lost the majority support, he will need to step down. However, it also depends on how he wants to do it. Go in a quiet way by resigning, or go with a bang. If Khalid proposes to dissolve the state assembly and the Sultan agrees, then the people of Selangor get to vote again.

Show's over so soon?

Selangor MB crisis: Wan Azizah claims 30 reps support her

PETALING JAYA: PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail claimed Thursday that she had obtained the support of 30 Pakatan Rakyat state assemblyman in Selangor to become the new mentri besar.

She urged Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, who was sacked by PKR on Saturday, to step down as he no longer had majority support in the state assembly to remain in power.

"The 30 Pakatan state assemblymen have sworn their support for me in writing, and are also present in person to state their stand.

"With that, Pakatan would like to announce that we have the support of the majority, and will write a letter to the Sultan of Selangor to seek an audience with him and present the state assembly's support for a change in mentri besar," she told reporters here.

Present were top PKR and DAP leaders as well as Selangor MPs and state assemblymen.

From PAS, Hulu Kelang assemblyman Saari Sungib and Morib assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin were present to throw their support behind Dr Wan Azizah, despite the party not having confirmed its final stand on the matter.

The duo's decision pre-empts the PAS central committee meeting on Aug 17, where the party is expected to decide whether it endorses Dr Wan Azizah as the new mentri besar.

No other PAS leaders were present.

Khalid sacks PKR & DAP excos

Khalid strikes back! There's a saying, "Still waters run deep". I suppose the PKR & DAP chaps underestimated MB Khalid! Isn't it ironic that those who called for his resignation now find themselves at the receiving end? Heh heh heh!!! This is kinda funny actually, seeing how fortunes can turn so quickly.

Elizabeth Wong Keat Ping, Ean Yong Hian Wah, Datuk Teng Chang Khim, Dr Daroyah Alwi, Rodziah Ismail, and V. Ganabatirau

Looks like with the 4 PAS excos, Khalid can keep his job... for now. Nobody knows for sure how this will end, but right now, it sure looks like Khalid & PAS has effectively taken over the Selangor state government!

One of Khalid’s aides, who declined to be named, said apart from Barisan Nasional’s 12 and PAS’ 15 representatives as well as Khalid himself, two more PKR assemblymen are expected to come forward to support the mentri besar.

And PKR & DAP seem to be taken by surprise...

DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng said the two parties felt the move by Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim was unethical and "does not respect the spirit and principle of democracy, and ignores the mandate given by the rakyat."

PAS, on the other hand, doesn't seem too bothered...

“Wait, lah for Sunday, it’s just five days away. We have all been waiting to resolve this for months, what’s a few more days?” Mustafa said laughing when asked for his response on the crisis.

PAS seems to be giving Pakatan Rakyat the middle finger. PKR & DAP have already started to put the blame, rather unfairly, on PAS for this whole mess. They seem to have forgotten that this nonsense was created by PKR themselves, abetted by DAP of course. This is most likely the end of Pakatan Rakyat.

I doubt this is the result those infantile minds in PKR expected with their so-called "Kajang Move". Turned out more like the "Kajang Ride" - as in Kajang taken for a ride!

Obviously, the "Kajang Move" is no match for the "Khalid Shuffle"! hahahahaha...

Hey, if PKR's plan doesn't pan out, at least Kajang still has Anwar's wife to baby them as a consolation... be grateful!

Khalid flexes muscle, sacks PKR, DAP excos

SHAH ALAM, Aug 12 — Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said today he has sacked all six state executive councillors from PKR and DAP, purportedly for refusing to cooperate with him as Selangor mentri besar.

He said the Selangor Sultan has given his consent on the matter, and that official letters have been sent to five out of six state executive councillors this evening.

“These excos have made several statements and signed a letter for a bloc to be made for the purpose of decreasing the effectiveness of the exco.

“Therefore I have written to the Sultan to ask so that these excos do not carry on their duties in the Selangor state government,” he told reporters here.

The move effectively boots both PKR and DAP from any position of power in the Selangor administration.

Khalid Ibrahim sacked from PKR

So... PKR has finally sacked the Mentri Besar from the party for failing to resign from his post. This makes him a partyless MB. Does this also mean that the State Government is also effectively not a Pakatan one?

It will be interesting to see what happens next.

From the various info gleaned online, it appears that there are so many possible outcomes that I'm not bothered to list them out. But what is clear is that all the political parties are waiting to make a move to grab power.

Many voters, on the other hand, are disillusioned and frustrated. Perhaps they placed their hopes too high. After this fiasco, things will not be the same for Pakatan Rakyat anymore even if the 3 parties tries to put on a show of unity. Most probably, it's every man (or every party) for himself from now on.

Like they say, "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...".

As far as the politicians are concerned, the voters' job is just to mark their "X" on the ballot papers. That's the way it is.

In the meantime, watch out for potholes when you're on the road, be vigilant against aedes mosquitoes, and don't forget to save up some water, you know, just in case...

PKR sacks Khalid from party

PETALING JAYA: PKR has sacked Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim from the party for his refusal to vacate his Selangor Mentri Besar post.

The decision came after Khalid did not to turn up to face a disciplinary hearing, as ordered by PKR disciplinary committee chairman Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong by noon yesterday.

Dr Tan said PKR’s leadership had unanimously decided to sack Khalid with immediate effect for openly defying the party’s orders.

Khalid responded to his sacking by saying that it was “flawed and illegal” but he acknowledged the decision.

He said he would seek an audience with the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, to inform him of this latest development and listen to any views that the ruler might have to share.
“Until such a time as this issue is resolved in accordance with proper procedures, laws and conventions, particularly in the Selangor Constitution, I will continue to perform my duty to the people as the Mentri Besar of Selangor to the best of my ability,” he said in a statement issued at 8pm.

During the announcement made about two hours earlier, Dr Tan told a packed news conference that Khalid had failed to adhere to the decision made by the leadership on July 21 that he relinquishes his post to make way for party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

“Having taken into consideration Khalid’s reply to the show-cause letter issued to him, we feel that he is no longer abiding by party decisions and as such, can no longer be part of the party.

“Khalid had defied decisions by the Pakatan Rakyat presidential council on several state issues and failed to provide timely explanations to these issues,” Dr Tan said.

The issues included the discussion on the Langat 2 project, which Pakatan leaders wanted to delay, the restructuring of the state’s water industry and the construction of the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex).

He said that Khalid had also failed to explain his RM67mil Bank Islam debt that was settled out of court.

Dr Tan, however, said Khalid had 14 days to appeal the decision.

“If he chooses to appeal, then a separate committee will be formed to look into the matter,” he said.
PKR supreme council member R. Sivarasa said although Khalid was still legally the Mentri Besar, he should immediately inform the Sultan of his decision to step down, as he no longer had the support of the majority in the state assembly.

PAS for All

That screenshot above has managed to throw many people into turmoil and confusion. You can almost imagine the jaws of the non-Malay Pakatan leaders and of course, those from PAS, dropping like a ton of bricks. Their less than convincing responses are quite telling. Well, the truth does that to people sometimes. It's quite hilarious really.

So, PKR & DAP want to replace Khalid with Anwar's wife. For all the trouble PKR took reach this stage, they probably thought that the people of Selangor must be really keen to see Anwar's wife as their Menteri Besar.

PAS prefers Khalid to remain as MB or at least were hoping for someone from their party (which would be their preferred choice obviously). I don't see any reason why they would possibly prefer Anwar's wife to be a Mentri Besar.

To be honest, it doesn't matter who replaces Khalid. It has no direct bearing on the lives of the people. It's going to be the same old wine in new bottle. Just treat it as a dumb sideshow that it is. There must be 3 billion (or at least 50 million according to RPK) reasons, for them to be fighting over the position.

Anyway, here's the thing...

If Pakatan Rakyat had announced that Wan Azizah will become Mentri Besar before the 13th General Elections, they would not be the Selangor State government.

If Pakatan Rakyat had proposed water rationing or water cuts in their election manifesto, they would not be the Selangor State government.

If Pakatan Rakyat had proposed their obscene salary increments before the elections, they would not be the Selangor State government.

If Pakatan Rakyat had stated that PAS is free to implement Hudud Law, they would not be the Selangor State government (possibly not even in Penang).

Does anyone remember what exactly Pakatan promised and delivered to deserve their positions?

Anyway, everyone knows this current fiasco is PKR's doing. But in case anyone wants to find an alternative target to blame, may I offer you the chubby guy and the herd of sheeple in Kajang.

The chubby unethical ex-ADUN of Kajang, Lee Chin Cheh.

The obedient sheeple of Kajang who were totally mesmerised by the gloved hand with a fan.

The DAP leaders such as Anthony Loke & Tony Pua can threaten PAS on the risk of losing the votes and support of the non-Malays, but the fact is, PAS will not be getting the level of support from non-Malays, for a long, long time. PAS knows this. DAP knows this. PKR knows this.

Given the present situation, the best solution is to return the mandate to the people.

PAS for ALL has passed. Time to move on.

Those were the days...
